Why we're built this way.

North Mountain Counseling is a nonprofit practice — an unusual choice for private-pay therapy, and a deliberate one. Excellent clinical care tends to be split between two worlds: high-cost private practices many people can't reach, and overextended agencies where clinician burnout drives constant turnover. People who need depth and continuity, but can't manage a full private-pay rate, fall straight through the gap. We exist to catch those who need a hand. Our full-fee practice funds reduced-fee care in tandem with donors whose lives have also been transformed through counseling— so a far larger share of our caseload is reserved for reduced-fee clients than you'll find at almost any comparable practice.
